Instructional Designer

Job Description:

The Instructional Designer is responsible for creating eLearning and presentation based deliverables (i.e. Technical presentations, lab exercise workbooks, , and instructor manuals, etc), while being directly responsible for the overall quality of the products developed. Able to manage end-to-end development of the components for the curriculum to strategically align with business drivers. Will exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. They interact and coordinate groups of subject matters to extract information to put into the courses.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

* Conducts the planning phase of content development, including outlining and storyboard creation

* Leads the research, analysis and design of content using Adult Learning principles such as job-task analysis, determining instructional strategies, developing measurable objectives, and designing a course structure

* Leads the development and release of content including: Writing content, interviewing SMEs and documenting information accurately, applying style guidelines, submitting drafts to peers and SMEs for review and incorporating feedback while coordinating efforts to establish and refine departmental process and standards as needed

* Lead others in collaboration activities during all phases of development, including working with senior members of: Engineering, Product Management, Education Sales, Programs, SMEs, Stakeholders, etc.

* Appropriately uses courseware design principles to ensure course is graphical and designed to keep learner interest

Qualifications and Requirements:

* Experience with eLearning development tools such as Articulate Storyline, Captivate, etc.

* Knowledge of Adult Learning principles and methodologies

* Graphic design skills

* Bachelor's Degree in IT, computer science, or engineering preferred

* Ability to quickly learn new tools, products and technologies

* Aptitude for learning technical concepts

* Exceptional listening skills with the ability to ask appropriate questions to help decipher what is needed from subject matter experts

* Eagerly adjusts their focus to follow the priorities set by their managers and cross-functional leads. Is good at multi-tasking and demonstrates willingness to ask for assistance when priorities & assignments conflict.

* Possess solid base of professional communication skills including presentation and documentation skills; Proficient in MS Office applications primarily PPT and Word.

* Ability to work effectively in a small team environment

* Proactive, self-starter who knows how to identify their own knowledge gaps and works to address them.
