Responsibilities

* Responsible for processing current deaths of service members and their dependents, Department of the Army Civilians (DACs), active duty National Guard and Army Reservists.

* Obtains escorts and conducts escort briefing on procedures and responsibilities.

* Serves as the contracting officer representative (COR) for the Army requirements contract for mortuary services in the Area of Responsibility (AOR).

* Provides expertise in the analysis, testing, and evaluation of the emergency and evacuation planning, operations, and response of the Casualty Assistance Center in the event of multiple military Casualties.

* Reviews Temporary Duty (TDY) Vouchers, authorizes travel, and certifies payment of escort expenses and travel costs.

* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

* Will be required to work irregular tours of duty to include nights, weekends and holidays.

* Will be required to perform on-call duties after normal duty hours, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis. Required to carry a government furnished cell phone and return to their assigned place of duty within one (1) hour after being called.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience includes experience obtaining information about a death so that retrieval process may begin; notifying the primary next of kin (NOK) based on regulatory criterion to direct the disposition of remains; and Monitors all mortuary contracts within the area of responsibility from inception to conclusion also experience monitoring cost trends. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as:Mortuary Science.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
