Commercial Operations Intern

Must be willing to work full time during the summer and part time during the fall semester.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Works with the Commercial Operations department to improve the effectiveness of the sales and marketing teams while looking for strategic insights to help develop & close more business.

The Sales & Marketing Intern will work alongside experienced professionals within the field of sales and marketing. This individual will gain exposure supporting these groups and will assist the organization in achieving its annual goals and objectives as an active participant. The intern will also be assigned a dedicated mentor who will meet with them on a weekly basis for collaboration and coaching advice. This position reports into the Director of Business Development & Strategic Planning.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Supports Commercial Operations with preparation of required reports, presentations, and analytics.

* Supports the management of channel trade agreements: contract management / governance (rebates & incentives)

* Supports the ongoing management of commercial resource deployment (territory planning & account assignment)

* Supports the management of sales process performance analytics (KPI)

* Supports the management of commercial compensation optimization and administration (SICP)

* Supports the ongoing maintenance of the commercial operations SharePoint site

* Develop and/or maintain various departmental standard operating procedures (SOP)

* Special Projects:

* Assists or leads department projects or initiatives

* Prepares communication and makes presentations

* Performs ad hoc data trend analysis and reporting

Minimum Qualifications:

* Education:

* Enrolled in accredited college/university degree program

* Preferred areas of study: Business Administration, Finance, Statistics

* Experience: previous sales and marketing experience preferred but not required.

* Computer Skill:

* Personal Computer

* Proficient in Microsoft Access, Excel, Power Point and Word

* Proficient with Internet

* Analytical Skills – must be able to review and evaluate data for trend analysis and reporting.

* Interpersonal Skills – requires collaboration with various functional groups

* Communication Skills – must be able to communicate information clearly and effectively through multiple mediums.

* Writing Skills – must have proficient writing skills in order to communicate key messages.

* Project Management – needs to be able to balance multiple tasks with time constraints and see them through completion & execution.
