Job Description

Inova Fairfax Medical Center, Inova's flagship hospital, is an 833-bed, nationally recognized regional medical center serving the Washington, DC, metro area. We are looking to expand our APP (advanced practice provider program) with experienced Hospitalist Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to assist in the daily medical care, admissions and discharges of patients on the medical units. The APP will work in close supervision with the 40 + physician staff of the Hospitalist services. The APP will provide support to the physician staff in order to ensure achieving quality performance metrics such as decreased length of stay, throughput, reduce readmission rates, and to optimize the safety and quality of care of our patients. Preferred Qualifications • Previous Hospitalist experience • Previous EPIC experience

Requirements

Experience: Progressive clinical nursing experience- 3-5 to five years of clinical nursing experience as a RN; Acute care NP experience preferred.

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing- Bachelors in Nursing and Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post masters certificate program for nurse practitioners, or certificate from an education program that is accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs/Schools, American College of Nurse Midwives, American Association of Colleges of Nursing of the National League for Nursing.

Training: Specific to specialty

Licensure: Licensed or eligible for licensing as a nurse practitioner in the Commonwealth of Virginia; RN Compact License (depending on State of primary residence) and a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner in the Commonwealth of Virginia AND a "Prescriptive Authority for Licensed Nurse Practitioners Practice Agreement" signed by sponsoring/supervising physician(s), AND a written "Scope of Practice/Protocol" signed by the supervising physician, AND "Prescriptive Authority License" AND "Drug Enforcement Administration License" (if prescribing controlled substances)
