The Challenge

The Material Handler is responsible to perform the day to day activities involved with shipping, receiving, inventory control and overall general upkeep of the warehouse and its equipment. The Material Handler is also responsible to maintain the highest level of customer service to all customers both external and internal. The Material Handler is responsible for upholding all SHE and Security initiatives and support his/her team mates in the same.

The Position

* Shipping to External Customers

* Receiving of materials and making sure that each incoming delivery matches the company purchase order.

* Work as a team to insure on time deliveries to our internal and external customers.

* Assist manufacturing by printing labels and/or kitting materials for production run.

* Fulfilling Inventory Request forms for internal customers.

* Complete DSM forklift training

* Strong attention to detail

* Perform inventory, shipping and receiving transactions in ERP system, including the use of hand held scanners and mobile warehouse technology.

* Attend DSM Biomedical employee meetings and training on new procedures.

Receiving

* Process all incoming purchase orders to insure on time deliveries and inform Buyers of any delays.

* Inspect all incoming packages for damage and verify receiving paperwork.

Shipping:

* Process all outgoing sales orders & purchase orders to insure on time shipping and inform Materials Supervisor, Buyers and/or Planners of any delays.

* Prepare and ship domestic and international shipments following appropriate SOPs and/or PAK procedures.

Warehouse Activities and Maintenance:

* Display a team player attitude.

* Track inventory on all consumables and shipping materials used and place orders with Purchasing as needed.

* Comply with all DSM safety requirements, including posted placards and SOPs.

* Dispensing raw materials to mfg. per requisition form.

* Report any observed unsafe equipment, condition or practice immediately to a supervisor, management or member of the Safety Committee.

* Adhere to DSM Quality System procedures and the ISO 9001and/or ISO 13485 standards.

* Work independently to Kit and Stage process orders

* Assist with organizing and maintaining existing inventory.

The Ideal

* High School Diploma or equivalent

* Experience in warehousing in the biotechnology, chemical or food manufacturing industries preferred.

* Experience utilizing domestic and international shipping processes preferred.

* Experience working within an ISO 9000 and/or GMP environment preferred.

* Good computer skills.

* Proficient using MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

* MRP or ERP system experience.

* Must be able to lift 50 pounds and transport materials weighing up to 100 pounds on a cart.

* Good written & verbal communication skills.

* Must be organized, detail-oriented and have the ability to follow detailed-technical directions.

* Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

* Good interpersonal and organizational skills.

* Must be a self-starter, team player, and dependable.
