The required competencies for this job include:

* Hydrologic, hydraulic and geotechnical design activities and principles

* Construction engineering policies and procedures

* Construction phasing and sequencing

* Construction, operation and maintenance of traffic control devices

* Applicable testing methods, processes and procedures

* Critical Path Method for managing projects

* Applicable industry safety standards, guidelines and specification codes

* Applying engineering principles, practices and methods in job responsibilities

* Leading, assigning, reviewing and monitoring the work of others

* The use of personal computers and applicable programs, applications and systems


This job requires the following:

* Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related discipline

Work Experience

This job requires the following:

* 5 years in Transportation engineering

* (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent)

* No supervisory experience required.

* Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.

Licenses and Certifications

The following Licenses and/or Certifications are required for this job:

* Licensed Prof Engineer

* Safety Impact Certificate

Other Conditions:

* Professional engineers licensed in another state, but not currently licensed in the State of Texas, must (1) meet the license requirements of the State of Texas Engineering Practices Act, (2) obtain a professional engineering license from the Texas Board Of Professional Engineers within six (6) months of the date of hire, and (3) sign an agreement to that effect as a condition of employment.

* This is a Safety Impact and will be subject to random drug testing.

Conditions of Employment

* Safety Impact certifications are not required at the time of application. As required, the Safety Impact, certification will be issued by TxDOT at the time of hire.

* Must pass a drug test prior to employment for safety impact positions. Safety impact employees will be subject to additional drug and alcohol testing during employment.

* Required to work weekends and holidays.

* Required to work hours other than 8 to 5.

* Required to work under exposure to inclement weather conditions.

* Required to wear personal protective equipment provided by employer and comply with all safety requirements.
