Position Summary Benefits Supplemental Questions

This position is for the 2018/2019 season.

Under direction, to assist in the planning, development, and implementation of the policies, regulations, guidelines, and procedures pertaining to an interscholastic sports program; to serve as a resource concerning physical education and physical activity instruction; to instruct and train sports activities groups in attaining proficiency in sport related functions; and to do other related functions as directed.

Site Specific Skills/Needs:

Successful applicant must have prior volleyball coaching experience or playing experience at the secondary level or higher, must have an NFHS general coaching certification and be available to work Monday through Friday between 4-7 pm and on some Saturdays during the months of September and October.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of:

* Principles, goals, and objectives of public education;

* Methods, techniques, procedures, and strategies concerning the development and maintenance of an effective interscholastic sports program;

* Policies, regulations, and procedures pertaining to interscholastic sport performances; Interscholastic sports groups and organizations within the local community and the greater metropolitan area;

* Modem trends pertaining to interscholastic sports programs and activities.

Ability to:

* Provide specialized resource support and coordination of a creative and innovative interscholastic sports program;

* Analyze and assess interscholastic sports program needs, and offer recommendations pertaining to program activity revisions, additions, or deletions;

* Participate in the evaluation of the District interscholastic sports programs and activities; Understand and carry out oral and written directions with minimal accountability controls; Communicate effectively in oral and written form;

* Establish and maintain effective organization, community, and public relationships.

* Experience differentiating practices for diverse populations.

* Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse students, staff, and community populations.

Minimum Qualifications:


Two years of experience as an interscholastic sports coach.

Minimum age of 22 years or be a college graduate.

Preferred, but not required: Experience working as a teacher in a secondary setting.


Preferred, but not required: Possession of an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university in physical education, or closely related areas.

Certification Requirement:

Possession of a valid Red Cross First Aid Certificate, including CPR training methods and procedures.

Preferred, but not required: Possession of a valid credential authorizing service as a secondary physical education or related area secondary level teacher.

Bilingual proficiency and/or multicultural experience strongly preferred.
