Job Description

The City of Greenwood Village welcomes your application for the Maintenance Worker position in the Developed Parks and Fields Program. This position performs skilled and semi-skilled labor primarily related to turf maintenance to ensure an overall high-quality parks and trails system and positive customer experiences. Typical activities include mowing (developed turf/native areas/equestrian trails/right of way) aerating, power raking, seeding, fertilizing, and performing weed control within Village parks and trails; maintaining equipment and keeping maintenance records, operating light and heavy equipment; assisting in special projects, including set up and take down for Village special events; and overseeing the work of seasonal employees. Maintenance Workers are actively involved and contribute to interdepartmental activities, such as snow and ice control operations, to assist in meeting the overall goals of the Village. This position may involve working a variety of schedules, including evenings and weekends and may be subject to work beyond normal scheduled hours including emergency calls for situations creating dangerous conditions for the community. This position is offered ongoing training opportunities throughout the year.

In order to carry out the activities of this position, a high school diploma or equivalent and possession of a valid Colorado driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is necessary. Possession of a Class "B" Commercial Driver's License is required within 90 days. This position requires the ability to operate light and heavy duty equipment involved with turf maintenance, ball field maintenance and trail maintenance activities and independent decision making and prioritization of items needing attention with a high emphasis on customer service. The Maintenance Worker II position is distinguished from the Maintenance Worker I position by the possession of an appropriate CDL license and related work experience of at least two years. The ability to perform physically demanding work at any hour of the day, any day of the week, along high volume roadways, on hot summer days and /or in cold weather are necessary in this position. Job frequently requires physical effort requiring lifting of objects weighing over 50 pounds.

The hourly rate for the Maintenance Worker I position is $15.65 – $21.72 per hour and Maintenance Worker II is $18.73-$26.16 per hour plus an exceptional benefits package including a selection of health and dental plans that start day one of employment, retirement programs, vacation and sick leave, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, recreation reimbursement, tuition reimbursement, on the job CDL training, work clothing provided, and more.
