Headquartered in El Segundo, California, KARL STORZ Endoscopy-America is responsible for all U.S. distribution of endoscopes, instruments, imaging systems, electromechanical devices and OR1® integration technologies.

We are seeking to hire a Building Engineer for our El Segundo Headquarters. This position will report directly to the Manager of Purchasing and Facilities, and directly support our four story, class A property.

The Building Engineer's duties are to operate, monitor, and maintain the building's operating systems and grounds. Duties include but are not limited to:

* Assist Facilities & Purchasing Manager as needed

* General Building & Grounds Maintenance and Operations

* Daily and weekly property inspections and reporting to Facilities & Purchasing Manager

* Access hardware repairs and maintenance (doors, gates, locks, keys, etc.…)

* Ceiling tile replacement & T-bar repairs as needed

* Cosmetic wall repairs and painting as needed

* Office furniture assembly and installations

* Monthly visual roof inspections, repairs and maintenance

* Assist in vendor coordination and scheduling/supervising required for building and office equipment maintenance

* Conduct biannual Fire & Building Evacuation Drills

* Key Building point of contact for Business Continuity Planning

* Assist with inter office moves as needed.

* HVAC systems Maintenance and Operations

* Environmental & Building Management Automated Systems operations and scheduling

* Manage Air handlers, cooling tower & boiler systems operations and maintenance

* Air balancing & Compressed Air Systems Operation and Maintenance

* Assist in minor plumbing repairs

* Maintain schedules for backflow device certification

* Maintain Electrical Supply and Distribution Systems

* Conduct Lighting system retrofits

* Oversight of Emergency power supply system maintenance and troubleshooting

* Perform biweekly generator test & schedule maintenance

* Assist with the preparation of reporting on building maintenance records and provide copies of engineering daily logs and periodic management reports for regulatory audit requests to Facilities & Purchasing Manager

* Interface with vendors to facilitate maintenance, repairs, and construction projects.

* Maintain updated log of all vendor's certificates of insurance.

* Prepare, maintain and regularly review logs for repair, service, operation and complaints related to the equipment.

* Make recommendations for improvements and increased efficiency in the operation of the equipment.

* Assist in maintaining all applicable safety building codes and related licenses and certifications.

Qualifications

* High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two years previous related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is recommended.

* Must have the ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Must have the ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in a one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

* While performing this position the Building Engineer will be regularly required to sit, walk, bend, kneel, reach, climb ladders, hear, talk, and use power tools, hand tools, and electrical meters. They must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The position requires occasionally performing strenuous physical labor. The position frequently is required to use hands, fingers to handle or feel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
