POSITION SUMMARY: Primary responsibilities include the typing, of any and all progress notes, office visits, procedures notes, memos, letters, etc. as dictated by any physician in the group, ensuring quality, accuracy and efficient turnaround times as required by the practice. RESPONSIBILITES: •Monitors the status of the dictation system multiple times per day to ensure that all ports are up and working and the system is functioning properly. Report any abnormalities immediately, and coordinate with IT if ports are locked. •Down load voice file from recorder to digital computer file. •Monitor the dictation system on an on-going basis and make changes and updates as necessary to ensure optimal turn- around time. Examples of changes include but are not limited to: a.Correction of invalid or incorrect work types. b.Correct invalid or incorrect physician ID’s c.Correct invalid or incorrect medical record or account numbers. d.Listen to, transcribe and edit various files to include office visits, consults, nuclear studies, PET scans, echocardiograms •Down load recorders for physicians a.After docking the recorder, verify that the information uploaded correctly b.Verify that the dictating physician is correct c.Verify that that the work type is correct for ALL jobs on the recorder. d.Verify and correct any other discrepancies. e.Complete dictation log for office visits and consults f.Review all dictated jobs for accuracy as well as reality.


POSITION EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS: •High school graduate /GED certificate or equivalent is required. •Graduate from an accredited certificate program for the transcription of records. •Excellent customer service skills. •Typing skills of 60 wpm •Computer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. •Good written and verbal communication skills required. •Bilingual – English/Spanish, required. JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: •Three (3) years experience in a cardiology office or hosital Health Information Management Department •Medical Records experience is preferred. •Working knowledge of computers systems is strongly required. •Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of Medical Record Science •Knowledge in medical terminology, pharmacology, anatomy and strong grammar skills required. •Excellent time management skills, required. •Knowledge of pertinent Federal, State and local regulations concerning medical records OSHPD data, and reports vital statistics and diseases.
