BASIC PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION The Distribution Center Planning & Control Specialist will work under the supervision of the Sr. Parts Manager to prepare regular slotting recommendations for warehousing in the Parts Center. Drives reduction in non-value added time through velocity item slotting, maintenance of put-away locations/groups, performs process mapping, develops work measurement productivity standards through time-studies, and standardizes operating procedures. ***The ideal individual will be willing to work at our North American Distribution Center in Edgerton, KS for 6 months to 1 year timeframe and will be willing to relocate to our corporate office in Grapevine, TX. PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES: This position does the following in accordance with all applicable Federal, State and local laws / regulations and the Company's policies, procedures and guidelines: 1. Optimize material handling, storage and packaging concepts in the warehouse. 2. Analyze facility productivity and report to senior management and corporate. 3. Analyze and drive slotting strategy to maximize picking efficiencies and overall processing volume. 4. Develops work measurement procedures and directs time-and-motion studies to promote efficient and economical utilization of personnel and facilities: Directs or conducts observation and analysis of personnel and work procedures to determine time-and-motion requirements of job duties. 5. Prioritize activities for the warehousing team responsible for slotting to drive efficiencies through processing, maintain visibility and communicating data trends 6. Facilitates continuous improvement thinking by monitoring and auditing actual process activity against existing standard operating procedures, highlights deviations for potential improvement to maximize efficiencies and drive out direct labor costs. 7. Increase efficiencies through DC by working with storage teams by driving high velocity product to most productive areas of warehouse, maintain outbound volume balance across storage areas to reduce potential DC bottlenecks, maintain appropriate space utilization of all Reserve areas. 8. Regularly utilize relational databases (MS Access, Sequel, etc) to manage and maintain large quantities of data, summarizing and preparing presentation materials and making recommendations to senior management. 9. Participate and assist in various data collection for Continuous Improvement Projects. SPECIAL PROJECTS As Assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND TRAINING: 1. Bachelors Degree 2. Advanced user of Microsoft Excel, Intermediate user of Microsoft Access and other relational databases. 3. 1-2 years SAP Experience or equivalent 4. 3-4 years of warehouse experience. 5. Ongoing continuing education as position requires. SKILLS AND BACKGROUND: 1. Detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize tasks. 2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (primarily Excel and Word and Access.) 3. Ability to work independently. 4. Excellent oral and written communication skills. 5. Previous experience working with processes and procedures in a service parts warehouse. 6. Proficient in computer technology or have an ability to learn computer programs to develop skills LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. EQUIPMENT OPERATION (% of time, description, nature of service): Equipment including forklift, computer, scanner, copier, fax, phone, printer. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. The position will require walking, standing and sitting at a computer.
