Proactively identify and negotiate contract opportunities to leverage the buying power of the University and Duke University Health System to lower the cost of procurement of goods and services. Ensure that contracts meet all federal regulations and customer needs.

Manage contracts with suppliers to ensure supplier compliance; analyzes supplier change requests to existing contracts and approves changes or revisions. Participate on procurement sourcing teams for the research, bid and contract management of supplies and services. Participate in strategic planning to target future cost savings with appropriate commodity. Track markets to anticipate customer needs, changes to those needs, and the impact to existing contracts or development of future contracts; monitor inflation and its impact on forecasting. Evaluate Supplier performance through review of reports and customer feedback; resolve issues and implement solutions to address negative supplier performance. Act as liaison between university and subcontractors to implement fulfillment of contracts. Facilitate the resolution of disputes with supplier to ensure optimal customer satisfaction. Coordinate the integration of new suppliers into the procurement system. Create and review reports showing status of contract activity. Ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Solid foundational knowledge of contract negotiation, vendor management and administering request for proposals/information (RFP & RFI). Experience within Clinical & Research laboratories, Radiology and Radiopharmacy preferred.
  • Strong analytical ability and research skills.
  • Competent in problem solving and the ability to make sound judgements and decisions.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Procure to Pay process.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills with the capability to manage multipies priorities and projects.

Minimum Qualifications


Work requires the completion of a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or business related field.


Requires five years of progressively responsible contract administration/procurement related experience. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATIONAND/OR EXPERIENCE
