Occ Summary

Perform a variety of nonprofessional nur sing duties in the direct careof patients under the direct supervision o f aRN/LPN. Perform taskswithin the scope of a nursing care assistant I and II as defined by theNC Board ofNursing.

Work Performed< /h3>

In addition to duties outlined in NAI job description, the follow ingduties may be performed: sterile dressing change for wounds over 48ho urs oldand wound irrigation; IV fluid assistance activities;oral/nasogas tricfeeding; urinary catheterization and irrigation; oxygentherapy, incl udingroom set-up and monitoring flow-rate; break up andremoval of fecal impaction; oropharyngeal and nasopharyngealsuctioning; tracheotomy care ;ostomy care, irrigation and annualskillsvalidation.Participate in own professional development by maintaining requiredskills validation and at tending educational offerings. Support thedevelopment of other staff and formal learners.Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Completion of a Level I - Nurse Aide education program approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing or successful completion of the NC - approved Nurse Aide I competency test. High School diploma or equivalent required.

Currently listed as a Nursing Assistant I (NAI) with the Division of Facility Services with no substantiated findings of abuse, fraud, neglect or misappropriation of property. BCLS certification must be maintained/completed by the end of new hire orientation, which typically takes place during the first week of employment.
