Lead HR Business Partner

Location: Durham, NC


The HR Business Partner consults with senior leaders and drives talent strategies, solutions, and services to assigned client areas to achieve business strategies. As an HR Business Partner, this role delivers employee life-cycle programs, resolves employee relations matters an contributes to projects that achieve business objectives. As the lead HR business partner this role also plays a key role defining relevant policy and practice for the organization and will provide leadership to more junior team members.


* Provides consultative support to assigned managers, executives, and employees in talent matters including performance, engagement, and change.

* Drives Employee Life-cycle programs such as performance calibration, merit planning, and goal setting.

* Contributes to and may lead efforts to define appropriate policy and practice for talent related matters

* Serve as trusted resource to managers and employees

* Collaborates with talent acquisition, finance, and leaders to drive good, data-driven, workforce planning

* Analyzes business requirements and employee data to recommend strategies to improve organization performance

* Champions change initiatives across organization

* Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring to more junior employee-facing People & Organization team members

* Defines and executes tasks and assignments to meet objectives as defined for the functional unit


Education, Experience, and Knowledge

* Bachelor's degree or higher is required

* 5+ years of HRBP experience, ideally in a service business with experience managing change activities, employee life-cycle programs, and strategic projects

* Experience applying data to solve talent problems

* Experience solving complex employee relations matters


* Considerable subject matter expertise in employee relations, compliance matters, change management, talent management

* Good coaching skills

* Strong problem solving and analytical skills

* Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

* Strong leadership skills

* Effectively communicates in all situations

* Ability to adapt to a constantly changing work environment



* Requires reading, analyzing and drawing conclusions from

report data, implementing recommendations; creative thinking and problem

solving; coordinating others to accomplish a goal


* Requires standing and walking; stooping and kneeling; reaching with arms and hands lifting to waist up to 10 pounds

* Requires sitting; using hands to finger key board; talking and hearing

* Requires close vision for computer work and reviewing correspondence

* Occasional travel may be required

* Work is performed in a controlled office environment
