JOB SUMMARY

* Purchases pharmaceuticals and products for St. Luke's, including the hospital pharmacy, outpatient departments and clinics, while controlling inventory in the Pharmacy Department.

* MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Education: High School Graduate or equivalent.

* Experience: At least two (2) years recent experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital setting or equivalent experience.

* Licensure/Certification/Registration: Minnesota Technician registration prior to hire. Must be nationally certified (CPhT) within one (1) year of hire into the position.

* Education: N/A

* Experience: Previous pharmacy buyer experience in a setting that includes purchasing medications under the 340B Drug Discount Program.

* KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

* Understanding of abbreviations and metric system use in the pharmacy environment; familiarity with drug names, both brand and generic; understanding and ability to utilize the Patient Information Management system as well as the pharmacy PCs; operational knowledge of equipment used in the pharmacy; understanding of computer terminology and applications in Hospital pharmacy; ability to follow written and oral instructions with accuracy and dependability; ability to communicate verbal and written instructions; work with sustained attention on repetitive tasks; distinguish routine functions from those that require professional judgment; good finger dexterity; ability to do light typing; learn and participate in all areas assigned; adapt to the changing role of Hospital pharmacy; knowledge of purchasing principles and philosophy; no history of drug addiction or misuse; good physical and emotional health patterns; attends lectures and classes for self-improvement; pleasant personality and cooperative attitude in adjusting to a variety of pharmacy situations; work experience that indicates responsibility, maturity and accountability; care alertness, exactness and attention to detail essential; ability to organize and complete complex work assignments; knowledge of 340B; knowledge of Track and Trace.
