About the Position:

The position is located at USAG Dugway Proving Ground a remote & isolated installation approximately 50 minutes from Tooele, Utah and 90 minutes from Salt Lake City, Utah. USAG Dugway has a highly professional workforce providing support to an array of missions and organizations. Dugway offers various alternate work schedule opportunities with most of the workforce working 4 ten hour shifts Monday thru Thursday. DPG is physically remote, entirely self-sufficient with government housing available for civilians, an AAFES Exchange Outlet, Commissary,Community Club,Physical Fitness Center,Child Care, Youth Services and Tooele County K-12 school system on post.Employees choosing to live off post may use subsidized commuter van transport which operates to and from many of the major cities and towns throughout Utah. Responsibilities

* Serve as a crew chief in charge of firefighting personnel on aspecified shift for an installation that contains an airfield, chemical and munitions storage areas.

* Serve asa driver/operator, driving and operating firefighting apparatus of significant complexity (e.g., 750-1500 gallon per minute (GPM) pumpers, brush trucks, crash rescue trucks, etc.).

* Operate firefighting equipment and components to and from the firescene including two-way radios, pumps, valves, ladders, and generators.

* Provide fire protection in areas involving:Testing of experimental fuels, explosives, gases, chemicals, industrial shops, laboratories, where work situations present uncontrollable hazardous conditions.

Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel 5% for this position.

* Appointment to this position issubject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.

* This is a Term position scheduled to last 4 years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.

* This position issubject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

* The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver'sLicense in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

* This position requires incumbent must successfully complete an annual Job Performance Test. This position requires incumbent must participate in acardiovascular physical fitness program.

* This position requires incumbent must wear a uniform and appropriatesafety apparel in accordance with established policiesand procedures.

* This position requires incumbent must successfully complete an annual emergency vehicle operator's course.

* This position requires incumbent issubject to periodic (e.g. annual) medical examinations following appointment to determine fitness for continued performance of the duties of the position.

* This position requires incumbent will be required to work rotating shifts which working at least one 24-hour shift and may include working weekends and holidays.

* This position requires incumbent hired for the first time into GS-0081 position must not exceed the established Maximum Entry Age (MEA) at the time of appointment.

* The MEA for Firefighters(FFs) is 37. An employee originally hired into acovered FF position must be hired by the last day of the month he/she reaches 37 unless a waiver from Department of the Army isapproved prior to appointment.

* This position requires incumbent within the first year of occupying the position must obtain and then continue to maintain the following DoD Firefighter certification levels.

* DoDFirefighter certification levels: Driver Operator Aerial, Driver Operator Mobile Water Supply and Wildland Firefighter I.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and additional certification requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) controlling or extinguishing firesasa member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade; (2) rescue operations; (3) performing fire inspections for detection, reduction, or elimination of potential fire hazards; and (4) controlling hazardous materials incidents.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Required Additional Minimum Qualifications:

In order to receive consideration for this position, you must submit acopy of your Firefighter I,Firefighter II, Airport Firefighter, Driver Operator Pumper, Hazardous MaterialsTechnician,Fire Officer I,Fire Instructor I,Fire Inspector I, Driver Operator - Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) certifications, and aState of Utah or National RegistryEMT (NREMT) certification card. With the exception of the HAZMATBranch Officer certification level, the DoDFireand EmergencyServices Certification Program shall recognize and accept certification certificates from any entity accredited by the IFSAC or the Pro-Board only when the DoD employee hassatisfied the required prerequisite certification level(s).Employees who have completed IFSAC or Pro-Board accredited training programs may request DoD equivalent certification certificates under the reciprocity provision of the certification program.The certificates being submitted for Change 1, 09/16/2010 25 CHAPTER4 DoD 6055.06-M,February 23, 2006 reciprocity must have theappropriate IFSAC or Pro-Board seal on them.The DoDFireand EmergencyServicesCertification Program shall not issue certification certificates for completing non-accredited training.

1. Firefighter I,Firefighter II, Airport Firefighter, Driver Operator Pumper, Hazardous MaterialsTechnician,Fire Officer I,Fire Instructor I,Fire Inspector I, and Driver Operator - Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) Certifications.

2. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification requirement: National Registry EMT (NREMT) certification card or possess a State of Utah EMT Certification Card and I understand I must receive a National Registry EMT certification card within one year of employment.
