Counsel –Privacy/Cybersecurity and Compliance

Provide high quality legal counsel and support on a wide variety of data privacy/security and general compliance matters as well as provide commercial contract advice and counsel to certain departments of The Wendy's Company. Counsel's work will be primarily focused on data governance and initiatives, data privacy and cybersecurity matters, information technology-related contracts, compliance policies, procedures, initiatives, training, and monitoring, and commercial contracts.&nbsp The individual will build partnerships and work closely with cross-functional partners in Information Technology, Operations, Internal Audit, Risk, and Marketing.&nbsp&nbsp


Specific Responsibilities Include

* Provide legal support for key information technology initiatives and Wendy's technology advisory council.

* Provide legal support for cybersecurity preparedness and IT governance (e.g., incident investigation and response, franchisee protocols/processes, employee and franchisee IT awareness and training, written information security program, IT policies and guidelines).

* Provide legal support on general privacy matters (e.g., privacy policies and terms of use, new restaurant technology, mobile technology and access, consumer data, cloud storage, vendor management).

* Assist in maintaining effective company-wide compliance program, including policies and procedures, training, monitoring and auditing.&nbsp Provide advice and counsel to various departments within the Company with respect to compliance effectiveness.

* Review, provide legal advice, and negotiate a wide variety of technology-related and general commercial contracts (e.g., master service agreements, statements of work, license agreements, service/vendor agreements, pilot/evaluation agreements, and click-thru agreements).

This position will be based at The Wendy's Company headquarters in Dublin, a suburb of Columbus, OH. The Wendy's Company is the world's second largest quick-service hamburger company. Education / Experience

* J.D. from a licensed, accredited institution

* Licensed to practice law in at least one state and in good standing

* Law firm and/or in-house legal department experience: 2+ years' experience in information technology, privacy, cybersecurity, compliance or similar matters

* Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts (information technology-related contract experience preferred)

* Excellent soft skills, willing to learn and enthusiastic about being a part of the Company and its' hard working legal team.
