Assistant Teacher

To plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum in the classroom. To supervise and coach teachers and classroom assistants to ensure this purpose.


* Demonstrate knowledge of child growth and development through planning and implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum.

* Create a learning environment based on children's needs, interests and abilities and one that is reflective of the children's families and culture.

* Partner with families to create an open system of communication and to assist in making smooth transitions from home to the classroom.

* Use various techniques to observe children and record their work and share progress reports with families.

* Develop effective communication strategies with children, families, teachers, and supervisors.

* Demonstrate professional practices in all aspects of work.

* Perform recommended standards to ensure health, safety, and nutrition of children.

* Respond appropriately to emergencies.

* Supervise, train, and evaluate staff and volunteers as needed.

* Complete professional development plan annually with supervisor.

Job Qualifications:

Job Qualifications:

A. Education: Minimum -- Associates in ECE. Preferred -- BA/BS in ECE; alternately BA/BS in a related field with 30 credit hours in ECE.

B. Experience: 2 years experience in a classroom setting preferred

C. Training time required once hired: 5 days orientation, 3 months introductory period, 15 hours for New Staff Orientation online training.
