SUMMARY

Drive continuous improvement in all phases of the production cycle. Maximize manufacturing effectiveness through identification and elimination of major forms of waste. Identify root causes of performance gaps through use of Lean and Six Sigma tools. Formulate corrective action plans for improvement with area team members. Drive adherence to process and progress of all corrective action plans. Assist in direction of daily activities of Industrial Engineering staff members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Research and formulate plans to accomplish major projects, including manpower estimates, cost estimates and work measuring devices such as milestones or critical path charts

2. Develop and mentor assigned industrial engineers and technicians

3. Take an active role in large scale production projects

4. Participate in safety meetings; investigate root cause and corrective actions for safety incidents

5. Incorporate ergonomics into safety, productivity, and performance

6. Monitor progress of major projects and make recommendations when needed including acquisition of capital equipment

7. Develop proposals for production processes

8. Support cost estimate activities for both new product lines and contract extensions

9. Research and make recommendations on make or buy products

10. Research and make recommendations for the acquisition of tooling, equipment, and fixtures

11. Understand current safety and OSHA requirements pertaining to assembly operations

12. Represent Assembly Operations on Corporate-wide projects

13. Identify process improvements in the areas of safety, quality, and productivity

14. Write assembly work processes and man assignment procedures

15. Establish manpower requirements, line and sub-assembly balancing data, and expectancy time performances

16. Participate in Quality Resolution Improvement Process meetings

17. Assist in plant layout and work station design

18. Plan, schedule, and prioritize work to meet established deadlines

19. Provide technical support and assist as a resource person in assigned area

20. Perform stop watch time studies

21. Utilize Lean/Six Sigma principles and methodologies in making process improvements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field

3-plus years related experience in automotive assembly operations with application of Lean and/or Six Sigma tool

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidate must be able to work well independently or as a member of a larger team

Experience with JDE

Previous supervisory and/or manufacturing experience

Experience with ProPlanner or related line balancing software packages

Experience with automotive or heavy-duty equipment

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
