Senior Engineering Technician

Split time between multiple needs within the advanced engineering, benchmarking and engineering business development areas

Assist team in planning, building and testing of mechanical components, equipment, and test vehicles

Perform detailed teardowns of competitive products and write reports with dimensions, weights, photos, etc.

Perform driveline component retrofits and inspections to support the development of AAM advanced technologies

Lead the 5S cleanliness and organization of the hoist / vehicle work area in the ATDC advanced garage

Inventory and order shop supplies for advanced garage

Track and compile receipts for purchases on groups procurement card

Complete weekly MetricSoft safety audits for the garage area, ensure area and associates are operating in a safe manner

Coordinate / perform preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles as needed

Support AAM seasonal hot / cold weather testing including travel and working at vehicle test facilities ~10% of time

Required Qualifications

Dedication to safe work practices in all areas

Automotive mechanical systems and tools experience, ability to perform R&R work comfortably

Driveline / drivetrain familiarity with components / system operation

Axle build experience (different assembly configurations, gear pattern setting, troubleshooting)

Basic tool room / fabrication skills (saws, grinders, drill press, etc)

Self-motivated but team player who works well alone and in a group, quick to lend a hand or help someone who needs it

Minimum high school diploma

Basic computer skills (Microsoft office, web based applications, etc)

Desire to innovate, tinker and create new products and methods

Positive attitude and willingness to support, iterate and test ideas that may fail

Plus (Bonus) Qualifications

2-year auto technician degree

Ability to read blueprints / view CAD models

MIG / TIG welding ability

Ability to run manual mill / lathe

CNC machine familiarity

Tier 2 drivers certification, fork truck license, familiarity with PLM & Oracle
