Counsel – Connected Vehicle Transactions

These offerings are managed by GM's new Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO) and Global Connected Customer Experience organization (GCCX). The attorney in this position will take a lead role supporting clients within the CDAO and GCCX organizations to make these offerings available to consumers and businesses globally, with a focus on drafting and negotiating commercial transactions with businesses, reviewing new product releases and guiding clients on strategy development and execution. The attorney will directly engage with key clients to fully understand their business objectives, and then collaborate effectively with stakeholders in Privacy, Cyber-Security, Tax, and Finance to ensure that those objectives are timely achieved in a risk-balanced manner. Subject Matter Requirements:

* Participate directly in CDAO and GCCX strategy development and business planning on a global basis

* Draft and negotiate contracts and templates for CDAO and GCCX commercial transactions, including data licensing and bespoke commercial arrangements

* Develop strong expertise on the evolving regulations that bear on connected vehicle products and services

* Develop and deliver to the business, in coordination with colleagues in Privacy, Cyber-Security, Tax, Finance, and other key functional areas, pragmatic guidance on relevant regulatory constraints and considerations

* Advise the business on responses to customer and regulator inquiries

* Relentlessly identify and implement streamlining improvements in the commercial transaction process to improve business performance and compliance


* A minimum of three years of relevant commercial transactions experience

* Ability to work collaboratively with the client and legal colleagues to resolve issues and timely deliver creative, legally sound solutions to business challenges

Education Requirements:

* Law degree from an accredited college or university

* Admitted to practice in at least one jurisdiction in the United States and, if not admitted in Michigan, the ability to qualify for in-house counsel status in Michigan
