Synensys employs patient safety professionals at Air Force Medical Treatment Facilities (MTF) around the world pursuant to a DoD contract in which we have proudly been the incumbent contractor/subcontractor since 2012.

As a Patient Safety Assistant Coordinator (PSAC) you will assist the MTF Patient Safety Program Coordinator (PSPC) on all aspects of the Patient Safety Program, with particular emphasis on performing data analysis.

As a team, you will work closely with MTF leadership to foster and promote a data-driven culture of safety. You will assist with identifying, recommending, and implementing process improvements (PI) that facilitate safer care. You will collaborate closely with the PSPC, Air Force Medical Operations Agency (AFMOA), the Chief of the Medical Staff (SGH), PI staff, Quality Management (QM), and Risk Management (RM) offices.

Other duties may include but are not limited to:

Proactive Risk Assessment (PRA): Identify, reduce, and prevent, wherever possible, risks to safe care.

Event and Near Miss Reporting. Assist facility personnel with compliance using the DoD mandated patient reporting systems, classifications, and processes.

Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Assist with the facilitation of the RCA teams through completion of the RCA process and debriefing to the MTF Commander. Analyze completed RCAs for opportunities to improve the RCA process, lessons learned and causal and contributing factors.

Data and Trend Presentation: Collect, collate, analyze, and display data from event reviews, RCAs, PRAs and other sources. Disseminate to appropriate committees and individuals for improvement purposes. Assist in preparing and presenting briefings on MTF PSP trending and reporting MTF findings from PSR reports as appropriate.


  • Bachelor's degree in health care related field, Business Administration (BA), Information Systems (IS), or equivalent that includes data analysis and statistical analysis
  • Two (2) years of experience in a civilian inpatient or outpatient medical facility
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of tools including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required; understanding of Microsoft Access, Visual Basic, and SQL is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate patient safety concepts to leadership and management
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills including previous public speaking/training facilitation
  • Knowledge of the AAAHC and TJC's accreditation standards, process, PS initiatives, and patient safety goals is preferred
  • Experience with performing RCAs, PRAs, and PI is highly desirable

New hires may have to attend the DoD Patient Safety Professional Course near Washington, D.C. All travel expenses are reimbursable.
