Hospital Services Manager

Under limited direction, this position is responsible for managing and coordinating Hospital Services activities (including BioCARE) and staff, or providing management support to the department director. Assists the department Director to ensure current Good Manufacturing Practices are in place in the department including SOPs, training and competency, and error management.


Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations. Is responsible for bringing compliance issues to the attention of management.

Assures quality customer service to all customers.

Hires, supervises, trains, and evaluates performance of assigned personnel. Identifies and effectively resolves personnel issues.

Assures all routine and special orders are properly filled and delivered to customers. Interfaces with customers to resolve service, supply and billing issues.

Actively manages blood and blood component inventories and coordinates special component product needs with other departments.

Assists with month-end closing and reconciliation of product inventory.

Prepares or assists in preparing Hospital Services reports and records.

Maintains effective communication and relations with hospital personnel; conducts hospital visits and inspections. Participates in committees and coordinates cross departmental communications and activities.

Assures Hospital Services equipment and vehicles are maintained and updates applicable records and charts. Assures quality control of storage equipment and shipping procedures is performed. Assures preparation of corrective action for unscheduled storage alarms and documentation of equipment maintenance.

May assist in developing and monitoring the departmental budget.

Oversees or assists with product quarantine, recalls and/or withdrawals of blood products. Oversees research and resolution of missing products.

Is responsible for the reporting and resolution of deviations within assigned department.

Assists in the development of Center Internal Procedures.

Performs all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.



* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in experience and/or education required.

* Working knowledge of inventory management, principles and computer inventory control systems required.

* Knowledge of blood center products required.


* Valid in–state driver's license required.


* Three years related experience required.

* Three years supervisory experience required.


* Good communication and HR skills, both verbal and written, in order to deal effectively with company employees and hospital staff.

* Positive team-oriented attitude.

* Problem solving and negotiation skills.

* Good organizational skills.

* Able to supervise and motivate staff.

* Able to maintain donor, patient and employee confidentiality.

* Computer skills required.

* Must be able to work on-call and various shifts including evenings and weekends.

* Must possess a good driving record.

* Travel within the blood center service area required.
