Job Description

The Iowa Department of Public Safety is looking to fill an Administrative Assistant 1 to assist the state. The Iowa Department of Public Safety mission impact every public safety and public service agency across Iowa per Iowa Code 80.28-80.29.

The successful candidate will analyze legislative mandates by comparing and contrasting board actions with requirements of code 80.28. Develop and customize the annual report to the legislature documenting these accomplishments and challenges. Recognize gaps in documentation and validates to Statewide Interoperability Coordinator (SWIC) those who have completed Initial Communications Leaders (COML), Communications Technicians (COMT), and audio gateway course, leading to credentialing (i.e. recognition for coursework and practical application specialized communication experience) for three years by ISICSB.

Candidate will Independently follows up with federal, state, county and local outside public safety entities recognizing incomplete information about ISICSB efforts, analyzing information provided and taking action by answering common questions about topics such as the Strategic Tactical Reserve (STR) Trailers, Long Term Evolution (LTE), broadband network deployment, Iowa Statewide Interoperable Communication System (ISCIS), the Land Mobile Radio (LMR) System, etc. Respond to and /or support for responses to legislative inquiries on topics such as at state LTE, LMR, etc. at state and local levels.

Candidate will maintains ISICB website, Facebook, Constant Contact and other digital communications tools to provide information and drive attendance at ISICSB meetings, presentations and events. Roll call at board meetings and maintenance of board members terms. Setting up committee calls for 7 ISICSB committees thru Polycom or gotmeetings. Website maintenance.

Additionally, will perform regular posting of website information for ISICSB. Independently manages, coordinates schedules and sets up meetings for ISICSB Board Chairman, Outreach Specialist and presentations are fulfilled. Handles administrative and logistical tasks prior to and after ISICSB Board meetings. Take meeting minutes for committees at the request of SWIC. After meetings collect, organize, categorize and make available for future reference any materials distributed or discussed at meeting, then organize and record final list of board members in attendance, excused, or absent and guests, name, organization and email address.

Candidate will manage expenditures for project (grant and general fund) including preparing claims, entry into state accounting system, assist ISICS and SWIC with planning and monitoring expenditures.

Ability to pass a thorough background investigation conducted by the Department of Public Safety.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

* Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in any field.

* A total of four years of education (as described in number one) and/or full-time experience in accounting, secretarial, or office support work collecting, compiling, reporting, examining and/or editing numerical data; coding and qualifying people for benefits, licenses, or other transactions; preparing and keeping budgetary accounts and projections; organizing and implementing office support operations; advising on procedural processes; or other work that provided direct support and exposure to substantive agency programs, where one year of full-time experience is equal to 30 semester hours of education.

* Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to 12 months of full-time work as a Secretary 2, Clerk Specialist, Public Service Supervisor, Accounting Technician (any level), Purchasing Assistant, or Human Resources Technical Assistant
