Primary Responsibilities

HDR Engineering is looking for a Senior Transmission Line Project Engineer to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals in our Denver, CO office.

The primary duties of the Senior Project Engineer include responsibility for knowledge and execution of the technical aspects and deliverables of projects assigned and is an experienced, competent engineer who understands and can complete all technical requirements of transmission line projects of basic to advanced complexity. The Senior Project Engineer will assign tasks and provide guidance to junior team members and coordinate QC reviews for work performed by junior level engineers and/or designers. The Senior Project Engineer will also be responsible for quality control reviews of projects from other teams on an as needed basis. The Senior Project Engineer works independently and may direct, mentor, train, and/or supervise efforts of less-experienced Project Engineers, EIT's, and/or Designers.

Tasks may include:

  • Conducting PLS-CADD analyses to develop design options
  • Performing PLS-CADD modeling and/or calculations
  • Assisting with preparing cost estimates or specifications
  • Perform routine engineering and design tasks
  • Creating and coordinating construction packages and associated design deliverables
  • Participate in field reviews or construction observation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required (Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering preferred).
  • Professional Engineering License required.
  • 8 years of experience designing overhead transmission/distribution projects.
  • Experience using PLS-CADD, structure analysis, project cost estimates, plan and profile preparation, optimization, specifications and drawings, and other engineering documents required for power transmission line projects.
  • National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) knowledge.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
  • Some field work and travel may be required.
  • Desire to train, mentor, and develop younger staff

The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $97,167-$156,765 annually and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
