Ombud engineering is continually looking for passionate software engineers who value maintainable, scalable, high quality software solutions and enjoy working within an agile team of developers, product managers and product designers to deliver new features, services, and improvements to our product.

In this role, you will be responsible for building the ‘client-side’ of our web applications and creating innovative solutions to front end issues to help make our applications more visually appealing and enhance usability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help develop and define architectural standards and guidelines
  • Develop new user-facing features
  • Build clean, reusable components with React.js
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
  • Refactor application code for performance and scalability
  • Implement styles using CSS
  • Work with UX resources to translate vision and designs into reality
  • Collaborate with back-end developers and UX/UI designers to improve usability
  • Develop and extend test coverage of existing codebases
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure all customer requirements are met
  • Support ongoing development for existing projects/applications
  • Identify opportunities to leverage new technologies to enhance our offerings

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience as a Front End Developer
  • A CS degree is not mandatory, but good CS fundamentals is a must
  • Advanced knowledge of React, Redux, JavaScript, HTML, CSS
  • Demonstrated mastery of building complex features with React
  • Demonstrated experience integrating with APIs
  • Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
  • Proficient understanding of Git, Gitflow and command line tools
  • Proficient understanding of principles of front-end testing (unit, integration)
  • Comfortable writing own APIs in Node.js and querying databases
  • Experience working with Microservice Architectures
  • A product-oriented attitude with a focus on solving real-world problems for customers
  • Exceptional analytical aptitude and attention to detail
  • An eye for good UI / UX design and implementation
  • You are confident in your problem-solving abilities and are eager to tackle unique challenges
  • You are willing to bring new ideas and thought leadership to Ombud and the team
