Under general supervision, the SLP will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of assessing, diagnosing, planning and implementing direct therapy. They will work with other staff to maintain a multidisciplinary approach to servicing students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Performs evaluations with particular attention to receptive and expressive language skills, speech fluency, vocal and oral motor competence, articulation, and auditory processing skills

* Develops and implements treatment plans according to a child's specific disability and areas of need

* Maintains professional communication with the student's service team, the student themselves, and the student's family regarding the student's progress, any problems, home support programs, and other areas related to the therapeutic process

* Provides evidence based treatment approaches for both articulation therapy and language therapy (including but not limited to expressive, receptive, and social)

* Facilitates behavior management in students and families as appropriate to the needs of the student

* Teaches therapeutic techniques and approaches to parents as appropriate

* Works collaboratively with teachers and administrators in the best interest of students

* Maintains detailed records of work performed

* Maintains equipment and supplies used as part of the therapeutic process

* Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods

* Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

* Master's Degree in Speech Pathology

* Previous work experience in a school setting (familiarity with FAPE/IEP)

* Current SLP licensure in good standing in the State of Colorado with endorsement as Special Service Provider

* Current BLS (Basic Life Support) credential mandatory

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology, and processes related to speech and language development

* Knowledge of the nature and psycho-biological basis of speech-language and/or auditory impairments

* Ability to effectively communicate relevant medical information, test results, diagnoses and/or proposed treatment in a manner easily understood by all concerned parties

* Ability to evaluate and treat speech, language, and hearing disorders

* Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards

* Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements

* Knowledge of relevant diagnostic tests and procedures

* Knowledge of evidence based speech articulation and language therapy techniques

* Basic counseling and behavior management skills

* Knowledge of child development and parenting theory and practice

* Ability to develop, implement, evaluate and modify therapeutic programs and services based on individual needs

* Skills in use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc)
