BAND-IT specializes in Cable Bundling, Hose Attachment, Safety &

Identification, Sign Hanging, Maintenance & Security Fencing, Disaster

Recovery, Fleet Maintenance, Government, Insulation, Fluid

Transfer/Material Handling, Traffic Management, Hose Repair, HVAC, Water

Removal, and Energy.

POSITION SUMMARY

The New Product Development Engineer works, within the engineering

department, as design leader on advanced tool design projects and

manufacturing support. Responsible for the research and design of basic and

advanced hand and power tool projects related to new products and existing

product improvements.

SCOPE OF ROLE

* Accurately estimates required effort and time

* Achieves preliminary tests to verify design input and functionality by

utilizing F.M.E.A. as part of the design process

* Actively researches new technology for design projects

* Acts as the technical lead regarding the feasibility of design and support

to manufacturing

* Calculates forces, motions, and strength of components

* Completes all other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager

* Develops and coordinates engineering projects and programs to ensure that

project staff and cross-functional teams complete assigned project

requirements on time

* Develops new products from concept to launch with a primary focus on

mechanical hand tools

* Handles updating and creating drawings and new designs using SolidWorks

* Looks for ways to improve processes associated with assigned tasks

* Maintains accurate files in accordance with applicable company processes

and IATF/ISO standards

* Participates in continuous improvement process by presenting

problems/possible solutions to the appropriate personnel

* Performs technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications

and technical plans and product testing

* Researches materials for new product development and established product

improvements and cost reductions

* Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company

standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications

* Teams with leadership and/or patent attorney to determine patent

feasibility and provide necessary documentation

* Transitions products into the manufacturing phase

* Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an

in-depth evaluation of variable factors

* Writes test plans, sets up and completes testing and analyzes results

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & REQUIRED ABILITIES

* Able to balance work between multiple projects

* Electrical background (automation, familiarity with industrial controllers

and controller programming) is a strong plus

* Experience with SolidWorks and EPDM in a network environment

* Great mechanical understanding is needed

* Knowledge of MS Office Software and Value Engineering

* Strong organizational skills

* The ability to visualize problems and solutions

* The ability to work with and gather data, statistical analysis

Qualifications:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

* 5+ Years of Product Engineering Experience with a career focus on Manual

and Powered Hand Tools

* Mechanical Engineering BS with an electrical background OR Electrical

Engineering BS degree with a strong mechanical background
