Geoscience Technologist - Permian Basin

The Southern Operating Area is seeking a Geoscience Technologist to join our team in support of Encana's ongoing development of the Permian Basin Asset. This position will report to the Manager, Development Operations - Geoscience.

The Geoscience Technologist position will work with the Asset team supporting geoscientists focusing primarily on geoscience workflows and geological data base management, maintaining timely updates of well, core, log and other data on the IHS Kingdom platform with a high level of data integrity. The position also produces engineering data maps related to budget and/or reserve reporting activities. Qualified candidates must have strong management, organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written), as well as a desire to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong technical support team.


* support the asset team with a multi-rig development program in the most active US Basin

* maintain geotechnical databases in IHS Kingdom and Petra

* provide specific support to Development Geologists/Engineers and the Geosteering Center

* manage reserves inventory for quarterly and annual reporting purposes

* assist team with monitoring basin activity and tracking in various databases

* assists with or performs various analyses related to geologic, engineering and spatial data and display on maps and cross sections

* maintain accurate and consistent databases integrating multiple software platforms

* coordinate between Development team and other internal groups i.e. Corporate GIS, Land Administration, Regulatory/Permitting, Drilling and others as necessary

* coordinate well data exchanges with well partners

* various other duties as requested by management


* a minimum of five years' experience as a Geoscience Technologist; bachelor's degree preferred

* proficiency in IHS Kingdom, Petra, ArcGIS, Petrel, SQL, DBA, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Access software

* knowledge of ArcGIS, Spotfire, Power BI

* ability to work well in a team environment

* ability to meet deadlines and advance multiple projects concurrently

* technical and/or administrative experience in oil and gas industry

* strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with various levels of company personnel

* strong business awareness skills; results oriented and self-motivated

* legally entitled to work in the United States
