Essential Functions and Objectives:

The General Assignment I Paraprofessional will provide general assistance and support to teachers and administration. Responsible for assisting teachers with both instructional and behavioral management duties. Helps provide students with assistance on in-class work and assists in preparing student assignments and in grading student work. May also assist in the Library Media Center or the Computer Lab.

Education Requirements:

Copy of official/unofficial transcript(s) verifying at least 48 semester hours, Associates, or Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university (All foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. You do not need a course-by-course, just a basic evaluation. Visit www.naces.org for approved service members).

OR

Copy of high school diploma or GED and proof of passing the TABE D Adult Education Test for Reading and Math.

OR

Copy of high school diploma or GED and proof of passing the WorkKeys exam in reading for information and applied mathematics. Score of 4 or higher in both is required.

Required Scores are:

* Paraprofessionals working in ECE - 5th Grade positions: Reading score of 7.3 or higher and Math score of 6.1 or higher.

* Paraprofessionals working in 6th - 12th Grade positions: Reading score of 12.8 or higher and Math score of 12.9 or higher.
