Job Summary

Under the supervision of the program/contracted Dentist(s), the Dental Assistant assists in the delivery of dental services to the participants of the InnovAge PACE programs.

Essential Functions and Work Responsibilities

Functional Category: Patient Management

Estimated Percent of time Spent – 60%

* Gathers and reviews participant's charts for the day.

* Escorts participants into treatment rooms and ensures their safety and comfort.

* Prepares participants for treatment by explaining scheduled treatment to participants.

* Performs necessary radiographic procedures in an accurate, efficient and timely manner and provides results to Dentist.

* Prepares necessary treatment materials according to each participant's needs.

* Assists in the delivery of dental services to participants by handing dental instruments and materials to the dentist as needed or requested.

* Checks with participants throughout procedures to help alleviate their anxiety.

REQUIRED

Education

* High School diploma or GED required.

Work Experience and Qualifications

* A minimum of one year working with the frail or elderly is required.

* One to two years of experience in the dental profession as a Dental Assistant

Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required

Computer Skills

* Must be computer proficient and possess experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

* Must be able to quickly learn specific software and new applications.

Mathematical/Financial Skills

* Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

* Able to analyze data and statistics and draw reasonable conclusions and compile accurate reports.

Language Skills

* Ability to read, analyze and interpret regulations and other documents.

* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively and tactfully present information to, and communicate with, co-workers, employees, and others.
