Assistant Superintendent of Extraction Plants

Soy Protein Complex-Decatur, IL

This is a Salaried, Exempt position.

Job description:

This position will be responsible for the management of the Extraction plants at the East Plant Protein Complex and reports directly to the Extraction Department Superintendent. Responsibilities include leading the day to day operations of the hexane extraction process, soy protein concentrate process, Isoflavones process and Refinery process along with various other responsibilities. This includes but is not limited to; managing and leading safety objectives, quality objectives, efficiency objectives, production goals, departmental costs, coordinating the departmental workforce, identification of improvement opportunities and working with adjacent department leaders to provide a coordinated delivery of materials to various other processes.


To be effective in the position, the candidate must rely on their experience and good judgment to plan and accomplish goals, implement operational procedures, and enforce company plans, policies, and rules. The candidate must possess a strong leadership ability and self-motivation in all aspects of safety, quality, production, plant goals, cost control, and employee development. A well-qualified candidate should show the ability to train and motivate the people they supervise. The candidate will need to work effectively with multiple levels of the organization.

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 5+ years' experience is required.

Excellent communication skills and handling of employees fairly, honestly, and directly are required. Additionally, experience with computers and specifically MS Office, RS Logix, Wonderware, and Microstation are necessary. Prompt attendance is a must. Ability to climb stairs, some lifting, sit and stand for long periods of time, work with heights, bending, kneeling and respirator qualified is required. The candidate must be able to work in a variety of environmental conditions.
