30-40 HOURS PER WEEK SEASONAL POSITION - DOES NOT INCLUDE INSURANCE OR BENEFITS.

Position Description:

An opportunity is available for a self-motivated, dependable individual with lifeguarding experience to fill a Lifeguard position at De Leon Springs State Park located in De Leon Springs, Florida and Volusia County.

Duties:

Protection: Monitors visitors in and around swimming area to ensure their safety; provides assistance, rescue, and first aid to visitors as needed. Ensures park rules are enforced pertaining to visitor safety.

Visitor Services: Explains facilities and services provided for public use, enjoyment and education; meets visitors, answers questions, provides information and directions. Provides excellent customer service.

Maintenance: Maintains cleanliness of swimming area and equipment storage room; maintains safety equipment.

Administration: Prepares Incident Reports, operates personal computer, completes online trainings and operates radio equipment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required for the Position:

Knowledge of: lifeguarding and first aid standard practices; good customer service.

Skill in: applying lifeguarding and first aid/AED techniques.

Ability to: follow oral and written instructions; communicate effectively; operate radio equipment and personal computer; interact with visitors in a tactful and courteous manner; understand and apply rules; prepare reports; complete online trainings; work independently with minimal supervision; participate in refresher trainings; maintain effective working relationships with others; work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Certifications Required: Red Cross or YMCA lifeguard certification; nationally recognized organization CPR (Adult, Child and Infant), AED (Adult and Child) and First Aid.
