SUMMARY: The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the warehouse, including freight, shipping and receiving, returns and transfers. The Warehouse Manager is also responsible for maintaining high levels of accuracy in day-to-day operations, leading and developing the warehouse team, and providing consistently high service levels to internal and external Customers.

* Manages receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing operational policies and procedures.

* Adheres to daily production schedule, Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery and service goals.

* Keeps upper management informed of problems or situations which may affect department performance.

* Completes warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.

* Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system.

* Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.

* Conducts regular safety inspections in the warehouse and participates in post-incident reviews.

* Participates in recruiting and selecting warehouse staff, and trains employees.

* Maintains warehouse staff job results by coaching, developing, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

* Maintains and improves professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

* Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.

* Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.

* Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.

* Prepares daily, weekly and monthly reports, and ad hoc reports as requested.

* Other duties may be required

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, skills and/or abilities required. An individual must meet the minimum requirements as listed in each Qualifications subsection.


* High school diploma or equivalent.

* Some college coursework desired but not required.


* Minimum of two years managing 4-15 people. Management experience should include staff development, training, coaching, counseling, reporting time and attendance, scheduling vacation requests, completing employee reviews, task assignment and problem resolution.

* Minimum of two years experience in a distribution or manufacturing warehouse that ships 125-150 combined package and motor freight type shipments per day.

* Experience with electronic manifesting systems. UPS Worldship, FedEx, etc.

* Experience with WIFI or RF data collection devices required.

* Must possess a comprehensive understanding of the receiving, stocking, order pulling and shipping functions of a distribution warehouse.

* Experience with automated storage and retrieval systems

* Experience in an ISO-certified warehouse is desired.


* Basic ability to utilize Microsoft Office software, particularly Outlook and Excel

* Demonstrated ability to resolve problems by utilizing critical thinking skills

* Intermediate mathematic skills, including problem-solving

* Planning and organizing skills

* Ability to work within a team as well as to lead a team

* Self-motivated with critical thinking capability

* Enthusiasm

* People management skills, including the ability to lead and motivate others, delegate work and explain ideas

* Problem-solving skills and an ability to work on a tactical and strategic level

* The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

* Experience utilizing P21 software is a plus

* Forklift certification is desired

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is active and fast-paced, requiring frequent reaching, stooping, bending or kneeling. On occasion, the work may require climbing a ladder or scaffolding. The employee will stand and/or walk for long periods of time on cement floor. On occasion, must be able to lift from pallet height and carry items up to 50 pounds unassisted. Must be able to use company-issued computer and communications equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the primary duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to a general warehouse environment. Noise, dust, and temperature and humidity fluctuations may all be present. The environment involves machinery with moving parts, forklift traffic, and exposure to steps, slippery and uneven surfaces. Work after normal business hours and on weekends may be required.
