Salesforce IT is looking for an experienced Manager of Middleware Software Engineering to manage a team of talented software engineers that deliver and maintain enterprise integrations solutions for our global company. These integrations directly impact mission-critical business applications and processes that run our $8B and growing business.

As a Manager of Middleware Software Engineering, you will provide technical leadership to a team of software engineers. You and your team will be responsible for producing sustainable, reusable, well-tested code that meets our internal software development standards using the Lean-Agile IT methodology to deliver on commitments. You must effectively manage the engineering function for your team's projects to ensure the successful delivery to production. The ideal candidate has a proven track record building and leading highly effective software delivery teams. This requires you to use your technical knowledge and interpersonal skills to mentor team members to increase their effectiveness, develop strong relationships, manage priorities, coordinate efforts, and measure results. To be successful in this position, you must be a self-starter with the ability to take ownership, work under pressure, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities:

* Lead a team of highly talented senior and junior software engineers (full-time and contingent) to develop enterprise integrations using the Java programming language and the MuleSoft Anypoint/ESB platform

* Hire, develop, and retain exceptional talent by inspiring them to find their #dreamjob in Salesforce IT for full-time and contingent staff members.

* Champion agile methodologies like XP, Scrum, Kanban, and Lean

* Work as a ScrumMaster using servant leadership characteristics

* Supervise the delivery of high quality, well-written code that is quickly understood and easily supported by others

* Daily management of objectives, priorities, tradeoffs, risk and performance management of all reporting staff (employee and contingent workers)

* Assign areas of ownership; ensure engineers have clear priorities and adequate resources

* Work closely with the Solution Architect, to ensure solutions are in keeping with the current and future technical direction, security, and performance requirements

* Work with Product Owners and Project Managers with roadmap and sprint planning activities

* Communicate status, risks to schedules, and offer mitigation strategies to ensure on-time delivery of all committed projects across the delivery teams• Manage and report regularly on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that measure team performance against organizational objectives

* Support growth and sustainability by developing, documenting, evolving, maintaining, and ensuring adherence to key processes crucial to Software Development Lifecycle

* Coach team members to progress career goals and develop personal qualitie

* Ability to pick up new technologies quickly and incorporate them into your daily work

* Present and communicate complex ideas and features to a broad audience effectivelyRequired

Skills & Experience:

* 4+ years of software development management experience

* Distinguished track record in software development with experience working on technically demanding projects

* Background in object-oriented programming with Java

* Experience using GitHub, Jenkins, and Nexus technologies

* Demonstrated understanding of SOA design principles and best practices• Significant experience in managing complex projects that require a deep understanding of the application logic and dependencies

* Experience coaching and developing individuals for increased effectiveness

* Experience managing team's in an Agile software delivery environment

* Experience managing and working with a geographically dispersed workforce

* Demonstrated experience setting and managing to goal-driven metrics

* Strong verbal and written communication skills, impeccable organizational and time management skillsAdditional Skills Desired
