Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance discipline or similar from an accredited university, Master's
    degree or CFA Charter preferable
  • 8+ years financial experience related to capital markets, preferably in a treasury-related
  • 6 years experience with bank funding markets and overall understanding of how capital market developments impact a bank's ability to access and execute funding
  • 6 years experience with relevant rules and regulations impacting bank funding and liquidity risk management
  • 6 years experience with a bank's balance sheet, particularly commercial lending and deposit
  • products as well as with the general principles of transfer pricing at a financial institution and their impact on business outcomes
  • 3 years of experience managing a team including training and performance


The Director of Funding Strategy and Execution is responsible for formulating, executing, and managing Comerica's funding strategy and related activities. In addition, the role leads Comerica's Funds Transfer Pricing process and assists in certain loan and deposit pricing decisions and execution to ensure Comerica's business practices appropriately reflect its funding strategy and costs. This role manages a team of funding specialists and reports to Comerica's Treasurer.


  • Forecasts funding needs and develop short and long-term funding strategy through wholesale funding channels and counterparties, controls risk through diversification of funding sources and structures while maximizing available capacity and minimizing cost.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant regulatory rules, internal policies and resolutions.
  • Provides frequent analysis and updates to executive management, risk committees, as well as regulators.
  • Oversees Comerica's Funds Transfer Pricing process which drives business and customer profitability and supports sound business decisions related to lending and deposit gathering. This requires working with various businesses across Comerica as well as risk and operational areas to formulate and execute the appropriate transfer pricing methodology to manage market and liquidity risk internally and support Comerica's strategic business objectives.
  • Actively engages with business units in certain loan and deposit pricing decisions to ensure consistency in Comerica's liability management across capital markets and customer-sourced funding alternatives.
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of the organization including executive management, regulators, second line of defense, auditors and rating agencies.
    Maintains strong relationships with relevant funding counterparties and market participants and stays abreast of developments in the financial markets and applicable bank regulations.
  • Works in a timely and effective manner with constituents within Comerica in support of sound pricing practices.
  • Leads or supports multiple projects simultaneously, is creative in their approach to solving issues, has strong technical and analytical skills, and is detail oriented as well as has the ability to effectively manage a team.

8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday

Category C - Days may vary based on workweek schedule (1-5 days in office)
