\r\nThe Civil Designer position is out of our Dallas office located at 2350 Airport Freeway, Suite 400, Bedford, Texas 76022.\r\n\r\n

Primary Function\r\nPerform routine design assignments, which require knowledge and skill in basic design techniques and procedures, under limited supervision. Knowledge of electrical substation layout and civil fundamentals is required.\r\n\r\n

Duties & Responsibilities\r\nEmployee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:\r\n\r\n

* Produce new drawings from examples of previous projects and\/or standards\r\n\t

* Oversee project-specific activities of drafters and designers\r\n\t

* Research information in catalogs, specifications, corporate standards, or other reference material\r\n\t

* Calculate structure heights and weights, concrete volumes, equipment fit-up, or other basic tasks (Civil \/ Structural Designers)\r\n\t

* Develop design documents, drawings, and bills of materials\r\n\t

* Learn and use task-specific software\r\n\t

* Learn and properly use the document management system\r\n\t

* Learn and apply corporate standard engineering practices\r\n\t

* Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his\/her work\r\n\t

* Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party\r\n\t

* Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments; travel will be minimal\r\n\t

* Other duties as required\r\n

Minimum Qualifications\/Experience\r\nDemonstrated basic knowledge in civil \/ structural principles and substation design, and\/or related experience required. Must be proficient in AutoCad and\/or Microstation. Successful candidates may be placed in job titles ranging from Civil Designer I, Civil Designer II, or Civil Designer III, based upon experience and knowledge in the field.

Possess skills in the following areas:\r\n\r\n

* Must possess intermediate\/advanced level proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D software\r\n\t

* Extensive knowledge of various CADD programs\r\n\t

* Knowledge of the major components of a substation\r\n\t

* Basic knowledge of civil \/ structural codes and standards (NESC, and applicable IEEE, ANSI, AISC and ACI) \r\n\t

* Basic knowledge of the function of major electrical equipment\r\n\t

* Knowledge of the types of drawings required to construct an electrical substation\r\n\t

* Mathematics, including algebra and basic trigonometry\r\n\t

* Word processing, spread sheet, and e-mail software\r\n\t

* Basic oral and written communications\r\n\t

* Working in a team environment\r\n\t
