We are seeking a Category Development Manager to lead the development of the Category Strategy Plan and drive the Strategies and Tactics necessary to grow the Category. Overall, the CDM is the primary contact regarding Assortment and provides Category Development expertise, in-depth analysis, and shopper/consumer insights for the Customer and the Kimberly-Clark Business Team. Promotion Analysis is a key element of the position as well.

The CDM reports to the Sr. Team Leader – Category Management and partners with their Customer Business Partner to drive Category, Dollar Share, Net Sales and Contribution Growth within trade spending guidelines. The CDM interacts with many different disciplines, including Shopper Insights, Shopper Marketing, Finance and Supply Chain.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC

* Proactively analyze competitive brands and market conditions that provide the sales team with time to react and adjust business plans where needed.

* Collaborate with the Sales Team, Business Units (BU), Brand, Sales Strategy, Forecast, Planning, Shopper Marketing and HQ Category Management teams to develop differentiated solutions to reach the consumer at key touch points and deliver OGSiM objectives.

* Utilize Category Management resources, i.e. Nielsen, Tableau, Answers, Assortment Tools, Spectra, Kantar, Clavis, and other tools as they become available.

* Utilize loyalty card data to discover innovative opportunities for cross-category partnerships, developing conversion programs, etc.

* Prepare category reviews that align with the retailers POG reset schedule to ensure KC innovation and initiatives are in the plan.

* Analyze, manage and track key business metrics, such as, new item performance (source of volume).

* Develop new and update current plan-o-grams that meet fair share of shelf objectives and best in class flow.

* Ensure forecast accuracy working closely with the Business Partner Analyst, providing base volume velocity by item, promotional lifts and new item projections.

* Ensure database integrity and report accurately, building trust with the retailer and KC's sales teams.

GENERAL

* Develop sustainable and strong partnerships with key customers by providing strategic analytical recommendations that promote category and brand growth.

* Be recognized as a thought leader with the customer and internally at K-C.

* Leverage I2e (insights 2 execution) framework as part of internal and external presentations.

* Integrate insights and data driven analytics to drive DPSM initiatives.

* Prepare presentations for customer and team to review results, opportunities, market trends, etc.

* Develop indispensable partnership with retailers merchandising group that enables KC to influence plan-o-gram decisions and attain the role of Category Captainship.

* Travel (3-4hrs/day, 3-5 days/work week) to various meeting locations; travel may include business trips via airplane.

* Perform prolong periods of sitting, typing, viewing computer/laptop screens, along with occasional bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, climbing, twisting, stooping and standing.

* Clearly communicate innovative business solutions to internal and external partners.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree required.

EXPERIENCE

* Minimum two years Category Management, Insights and Customer Development. In addition, involvement with Retailer's Go to Market Strategies and Systems i.e. (Shopper Loyalty Card Data, RSi, Retailer Portal).

* Nielsen Expertise.

* New Item Tracking Experience.

* Solid knowledge of PC based applications (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.

* Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills and communicate with enthusiasm and impact.

* Comprehend, communicate and respond to inquiries on a planned and ad hoc basis.

* Ability to relocate within the sales organization; inability to relocate may limit career opportunities.

We lead with Category trends and insights, with our CDM's acting as the single point of contact assembling the information as they work with cross-functional resources within K-C.

* Customer Relationship Management: as a full partner with the CBP, you will bring the data points and analytics to planning discussions and help determine how we promote, which items we offer for sale, and work with other cross functional roles like Finance to determine ROI and cost efficacies of our programs and plans. You will be in front of the customer revealing trends and insights and leading them to take action based upon your analysis and recommendations.

* Process Improvement: your voice will be heard, and you will have the opportunity to lead within our team. Your successes will be championed and shared with the larger organization.

* Analytical Insight: the key to getting your customer to take action.

* Employee Resource Groups: tableau Tuesday User Group Sessions, Community of Interest (COI) for Shopper Loyalty data.

* Proficiency in Category Management and Insights is typically developed through exposure to and experience with positions of increasing accountability.
