SAIC is seeking a Security System Administrator to join our team in Crane, IN supporting the US Navy.


You will maintain the health and security of SAIC's networks, by setting internal security procedures and helping to detect any weaknesses in the network that may make SAIC vulnerable to cyber-attacks. You will be the principal for security servers on a specific DoD contract in Crane, IN. In this role you will provide ISSM support for classified systems.


  • Utilizes the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS), a service-oriented computer application, which supports Information Assurance (IA) program management and automates the DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP) and Risk Management Framework (RMF) process
  • Plans configures, and tests unclassified and classified server systems
  • Leads efforts in planning, monitoring, testing, maintaining, and operating multiple operating system environments, Windows and Red Hat Linux
  • Supports and interacts with the SAIC/Government cybersecurity system engineers, system administrators, system engineers, and system developers
  • Ensures the rigorous application of cybersecurity policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of systems
  • Performs security assessments using DoD provided tools; reporting results to the cybersecurity system engineer; and develops strategies to mitigate discrepancies
  • Performs day-to-day management and maintenance of network infrastructure including log and system monitoring, end user issue resolution, backup verification, Internet and LAN connectivity issues, access control management, email connectivity issues, virus and malware mitigation
  • Provides Red Hat Linux and Windows System Administration services to support government systems
  • Provides system administration support and administers, configures, and troubleshoots RedHat Linux servers, workstations and virtual desktops


  • High School diploma and nine (9) years or more experience; Bachelors in Computer Science or related field and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a full DOD Secret Security Clearance
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and have the ability to meet the Security Clearance requirements in order to be considered for the position
  • Must have experience with the following:
  • Supporting LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet and Intranet systems
  • Advanced experience with Windows and Red Hat Linux
  • Network Protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, and ICMP
  • Major network security tools such as firewalls, knowledge of computing and networking vulnerabilities, attack methods and latest detection methods
  • System backup and recovery
  • Software management
  • Security management
  • Library management
  • Installation and configuration of hardware and software
  • Configure databases
  • Operating systems and COTS software
  • Operating computer systems in different operating environments, sizing, performance tuning
