Job Title: CMM Programmer/Operator

Department: Quality Engineering

Reports To: Quality Engineering Director

SUMMARY:

Translates data into inspection program output to ensure products meet engineering and customer dimensional specifications. Interprets geometrical dimensioning and tolerance frames from blueprints. Generates CMM programs, performs CMM inspection as well as training.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Create and set up inspections programs using software such as PC-DMIS, Polyworks and LK-DMIS

* Determine part conformance to customer's engineering prints and drawings

* Investigation and problem solving of product or testing issues

* Support continuous improvement activities

* Support tooling controls

* Work closely with Manufacturing, Project and Quality Engineers to achieve goals

* Perform CMM inspection, and train others to perform as well

* Write procedures as needed

* Issue reports as needed

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

2 year technical degree minimum

3-5 years minimum experience in CMM programming, using PC-DMIS, Polyworks and LK-DMIS software

Basic 3D CAD skills

Able to operate bridge and articulated arm CMM's

Proficient with GD & T

Excellent math skills

Must be fluent in English for reading and writing

Blueprint reading to understand geometric tolerances

Good communication skills

Proficient use of coordinate measuring equipment

Solid problem solving skills

Proficient in Word and Excel

Experience in reverse engineering a plus

Capable of ASQ certification as CQT or CQE

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Good hand dexterity

Position requires significant carrying, walking, bending, and sitting, standing and repetitive motion

Work with various cutting and machining fluids, solvents and lubricants.
