We are actively seeking an experienced Structural Engineer Diver at our Long Beach (preferred) or Costa Mesa, CA office. As the successful Engineer Diver / Dive Supervisor, you will be working with a professional engineering dive team that provides consulting services to clients primarily in the Southern California area. Occasional travel to other areas throughout the U.S. and abroad will also be required. The principal function of this position is to be part of a team that evaluates bridges and marine structures through above and below water engineering inspections, follow-on report preparation and development of structural repair designs. The successful applicant will be required to assume increasingly responsible charge to function as Project Manager.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Team Leader and/or Dive Supervisor for site investigations of marine structures, bridges, etc.
  • Ensures that the scope of work is fulfilled and that the contracted deliverable is submitted on schedule and as budgeted
  • Works collaboratively with all members of the regional inspection team and of other engineering disciplines across the company
  • Analyzes deteriorated components of marine and/or bridge structures to assess load capacity
  • Prepares plans, specifications, cost estimates and supporting documentation
  • Assists in business development activities such as proposals and cost estimates for the Inspection & Rehabilitation Discipline in the Southern California area
  • Adheres to Moffatt & Nichol's Quality Management System
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university
  • California Professional Engineer licensure or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Certified Commercial Diver - ADCI, HSE, DCBC, IMCA or ADAS
  • Certified Dive Supervisor
  • 5 to 10 years of related diving experience
  • NHI/NBIS bridge inspection certification 130055 preferred
  • Proven experience in performing above/below water engineering inspections
  • Possess a valid driver's license in good standing
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required. Most work is local/regional
  • Ability to obtain security clearances required by the US Navy strongly preferred
  • Possession of a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC); or ability to obtain within a couple months of hire
  • First Aid, CPR, AED, and Oxygen Administration certification preferred
  • Experience and/or certification as a boat operator a plus
  • Selected candidate must consent to and a pass a post-offer/pre-employment drug screening
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Physical requirements:

This role requires the incumbent to be in excellent physical condition:

  • ADCI (or equivalent) diving requires specific physical conditioning and strength
  • Field work requires incumbent to carry diving and inspection equipment over unpaved, rural, and unmarked terrain
  • The incumbent must be able to lift, carry, climb, and navigate in a small boat

Base salary range:

$104,408 to $127,610 based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.

Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the California market.
