Director of Distribution

The Director of Distribution will direct and implement the operational strategy, business process, and systems for overall distribution operations, including order fulfillment, warehousing, inventory management, and transportation. This person will be overseeing day to day operations of shipping and receiving, warehousing and outbound shipping to company owned retail stores, key wholesale partners or end consumers.

As a key part of the Distribution and Logistics team, this person will report directly to Vice President of Distribution & Logistics.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Manage supply distribution processes and inventory level controls to ensure product is efficiently and effectively delivered to customers throughout the organization.

  • Responsible for driving operational safety and efficiencies by constantly evaluating processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Ensure on-time deliveries to our domestic markets.
  • Identify and manage expediting needs and work with suppliers on prioritization and options to meet targeted delivery schedules.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and safe operating practices.
  • Respond to orders efficiently so that products are delivered in a timely and accurate manner, in adequation with customer compliance guidelines.
  • Track quality, efficiency and turnaround time of all functions, including order processing & fulfillment.
  • Evolve and elevate WIP reporting and communication to internal stakeholders on delivery statuses.
  • Partner with Production & Logistics to schedule, book and complete inbound transportation process, triggering corporate compliance guidelines when needed.
  • Own distribution of the sample product program, ensuring receiving and fulfillment to sales, digital and corporate teams within tight timeframes.
  • Partner with finance to reconcile invoices, ensuring on-time payments to vendors.
  • Meet with other managers to confer about products, shipping times, and distribution issues, among many other concerns.
  • Develop recommendations to improve existing processes and create operational and WMS system efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with the inventory manager in ensuring cycle count program is executed, while optimizing warehouse space and inventory disposition in accordance with corporate strategy.
  • Decision support for evaluating new 3PL partners.
  • Directly manage variable labor force including mix of full time employees and temporary agency staff to ensure seasonal demands are met and labor spend is optimized.
  • Manage the staff training & evaluation program for both salary and temporary workers in different warehouse roles.
  • Develop Warehouse Supervisors & Senior staff to become effective managers.
  • Create, modify and or maintain written operational processes (SOPs).
  • Adapt to changes, and manage several assignments simultaneously, setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and working independently within established guidelines.
  • Perform under deadlines and demonstrate willingness to work long hours if needed to complete projects on time.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local facility regulations.
  • Additional ad-hoc projects as needed.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain or related field strongly encouraged.
  • Minimum of 10 years of in distribution of similar size and type of business (i.e. apparel business).
  • Fluency in Spanish and English.
  • ERP and WMS software experience, particularly Full Circle and Manhattan Scale Solution.
  • WMS operational development experience is highly desirable.
  • Proven success in the development of staffing & training programs.
  • Proven success in the optimization of receiving, inventory control and order waving processes.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel. MS Access and SQL knowledge are desirable.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain metrics, production planning, and vendor relationships.
  • Experience in global production and supply chain leadership in a fast-paced, multi-category, and multi-channel environment.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional environment and lead a team of skilled professionals to deliver corporate results.
  • Able to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • A strong vision for what great looks like within the supply chain and production organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Manage time to meet tight deadlines while remaining organized, detail-oriented, accurate and thorough.
  • A work ethic based on a strong desire to exceed expectations.
  • This position requires working out of our Irvine, CA facility.
