You will serve as an IT Specialist (DATAMGT/CUSTSPT) in the Information Systems Department, NAVAIR TRAINING HUMAN CAPITAL MGMT GRP. As an IT Specialist (DATAMGT/CUSTSPT), you will provide analytical data compilation and data extraction support services for the Chief of Naval Air Training (CNATRA) and supported commands. This positions primary focus is support of training systems, data warehousing and business intelligence systems.

Term appointments may be extended up to 6 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations. Additionally, you may be noncompetitively converted to a permanent career-conditional or career appointment under specific conditions.

Responsibilities

* You will participate in the design and leveraging of data mining, data warehousing systems, data reporting services, development of data dictionaries, data models, metadata repositories, and other data management tools.

* You will develop and administer data standards, policies, and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and data accessibility.

* You will retrieve, compile, and create a variety of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports relating to the aviator training production for the commands.

* You will resolve problems associated with integrating data into authoritative reporting system through manual means, or electronic system interfaces.

* You will support the commands on data mining and analysis.

* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

* Require record filing and archiving including lifting record storage boxes.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying commonly used query languages, such as Structured Query Language (SQL) to create reports and manipulate data in response to customer requirements. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.

Education

Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.

* OR-

Successfully completed 3 full years (54 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
