Definition

Under direction, is responsible for the coordination of training and development programs to be used by City departments and enterprise customers; performs related duties as required.

Examples of Work

(May not include all of the duties that may be performed.)

Expands enterprise customer base and increases revenue opportunity through the delivery of enterprise training programs and facility rental;

Identifies and develops training deliverables to be administered for City departments and enterprise customers;

Partners with local employers and vendors to coordinate and share in the use and development of training and development resources;

Reviews vendor and other local employer training programs to determine if City needs or objectives could be met via resource sharing with the identified outside agency;

Coordinate efforts to ensure full utilization of City's training programs, facilities, resources, and equipment by City employees and enterprise customers;

Confers with college/university officials and professional certification organizations to ensure specialized training curricula is eligible for credit or meets requirements to be counted for CEU;

Consults with departments regarding training needs, scheduling classes, and regulatory requirements;

Researches and identifies opportunities for acquiring grant funding for special projects or services;

Markets and promotes employee training and workforce development programs to City employees, departments, and enterprise customers; maintains the Citywide Training & Development website and social media presence;

Develops and distributes flyers, brochures, and other promotional material to City employees and enterprise customers pertaining to scheduled classes, workshops, and other development opportunities;

Coordinates and facilitates meetings with trainers, facilitators, and subject matter experts to review the effectiveness of past programs and solicit information to identify future training needs and contemporary subject matter;

Prepares documentation and comprehensive reports detailing the effectiveness of employee training and workforce development programs based on City needs and enterprise utilization;

Conducts analysis and research on broad range of learning and organizational development trends such as computer based training and web deliverable training; makes recommendation to management on the feasibility for the City to adopt such new trends;

Briefs management on existing and proposed programs to ensure expectations and needs are being met.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience developing, coordinating, or conducting employee training or workforce development programs. Substitution(s): A master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
