JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The Aerial Inspector will be responsible for performing the overall inspection and testing of Mobile Elevating Work Equipment. (Commonly known as Boom Lifts and Scissor Lifts) This inspector will be responsible for making sure that all components of the MEWP are in perfect working condition and that all functions meet the standard criteria as defined by the Manufacturers guidelines. The Aerial Inspector must be familiar with all applicable OSHA, ANSI and SAIA guidelines. The Aerial Inspector must have experience as a service technician in an industry similar to earthmoving or material handling equipment, with experience maintaining MEWP being most desirable. This position will require frequent overnight travel to Ohio CAT branch locations, as well as overnight travel for training sessions at various MEWP manufacturer’s locations around the country.
COMPETENCIES LIST AND DESCRIBE
Extensive Knowledge of: Diesel Engines, Emissions Control Systems, DC Electrical Systems, Electronic Control Systems, Hydraulic Systems, and Hydrostatic Transmissions. A strong mechanical aptitude. Must possess a strong sense of generally accepted industry practices with equipment service practices and preventive maintenance practices. A willingness to study and learn new skills and technical information related to the job is required. Must be organized, self-motivated, energetic, and be able to work without direct supervision. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills is a must.
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum five years’ experience as a service technician in an industry similar to earthmoving or material handling equipment, with experience maintaining MEWP being most desirable.
- Must have valid and clean (4 points or less) driver's license
- Individual must be highly self- motivated, with excellent interpersonal skills, superior communication
- skills, good organizational skills, as well as extensive computer experience.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS;
Ability to sit for extended periods. Ability to stand for up to two hours. Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds. Ability to see for purposes of reading printed material and driving. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels. Ability to speak so that others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation both in person and over the phone. Flexibility to work extended hours as needed. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
