Systems Administrator

Job Summary

Analyzes, installs, administers, and configures the infrastructure systems in a distributed environment at the enterprise level; participates in capacity planning; supports the creation and the maintenance of infrastructure disaster recovery plans, monitors performance activities, and provides operational support; Implements and maintains software/hardware and analyzes performance; routinely configures and maintains physical and logical infrastructure components and provides support for them

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Participates in medium to high-complexity projects providing daily operational support and maintenance of a distributed environment

Coordinates the installation, implementation, administration, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems at the enterprise level (desktops and servers) in a distributed environment

Regulates systems performance; resolves system problems, capacity issues, and inoperability by tracking/reporting maintenance and fine-tuning systems to achieve optimum level of performance

Participates in the development of disaster recovery plans, and develops the appropriate test plans

Ensures the system's compliance with the organization's requirements through the implementation of, auditing of, and adherence to policies, procedures, and security standards

Ensures data integrity by evaluating and managing the appropriate software/hardware solutions

Monitors Aflac systems and services provided by vendors to ensure that service levels meet requirements

Adheres to established policies and procedures as outlined by the organization

Develops and implements software/hardware upgrades and system installations in accordance with established policies and procedures

Act as project lead when bringing in new technology as well as evaluate and implement enhancements to existing products

Serve as subject matter expert that provides technical recommendations on new and emerging technologies

Performs other related duties as required

Education & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, information systems or a related field and four years' experience monitoring, analyzing and maintaining computer system operations or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Microsoft MCSE or MCSA preferred

Experience working in a multi-platform environment, including mainframe and/or distributed preferred
