Position Summary: The Patient Access Specialist is responsible for exceeding the customer's expectation (customer is herein defined as the patient, patient's family

members, physician/physician office staff and hospital departments reliant upon Central Scheduling operationally) while accomplishing accurate and timely acquisition of information. Routine verbal, written and in-person communication with customers will serve to present a positive and professional image fully geared towards excellent customer service. Receiving scheduling and registration requests in a timely and accurate

manner and entering that data into the system efficiently is of key importance. The Specialist will question requests for service that are seemingly inappropriate and will demonstrate the ability to problem solve, screen the patient for health-related issues and document critical information within the scheduling system. The Specialist also strives to achieve average or better scheduling/registration times and accuracy rating while

consistently providing patients with accurate information, following scheduling/registration guidelines, and handling an equitable number of registrations per assigned shift. Follows Providence Hospitals' Mission, Vision, and Values.

Job Requirements

Qualifications/Specifications:

* Education: Two-year degree in Healthcare or Business Administration preferred; customer service and/or healthcare patient access experience may be substituted.

* Licensure/Certification: N/A

* Professional Experience: Two years progressive responsibility in a healthcare and/or

customer service setting preferred. Proficiency in hospital software systems (Meditech preferred) and Microsoft Office products a plus.
