This position is located in the Richland County Health Department.

Under general supervision, performs Administrative Support duties for client services. Implements and adheres to agency/program policies and procedures for efficient service delivery. Provides quality customer service and maintains strict confidentiality.

Provides Client Services: Meets, interviews, and directs public health clients in accordance with Preventive Health program and agency policies.

Processes information, completes medical records and enters all client information into applicable electronic applications. Answers telephones and schedules appointments as needed. Screens and updates eligibility based on program requirements.

Follow established guidelines around customer service and cultural competency.

Attends relevant program and agency training and meetings. Ensure necessary materials and resources are utilized.

Prepares and submits required reports.

Completes other duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements:

State Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma.

Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Agency Additional Requirements: High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of medical office/clinical clerical office experience which includes public contact or an Associates' Degree in Secretarial Science or a related field and one (1) year of medical office/clinical clerical office experience.

Preferred Qualifications:Bilingual in Spanish/English

One (1) year experience with electronic health/medical records, and one (1) year experience with other third party insurance billing.

Additional Comments:

Immunization: All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.

State Disaster Plan: In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, DHEC employees may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.

College Transcripts: Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application may be required to upload a copy (official or unofficial) of the transcript as an attachment to the application. Please note that some areas of the agency may require an official, certified copy of the transcript prior to hiring or within a specific time frame required by that area, after hiring.

Driving Record: If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver's license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.
