POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Scheduling Manager, an Outside Participant Attendant provides an escort for the frail and elderly participants for outside appointments during the day.. Assists as necessary within the Scheduling department during down time. Promotes professional working relationships with both internal and external customers. This position is non-supervisory in nature. Adheres to and supports all organizational policies and procedures and standards. Promotes teamwork!

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

* High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

* One year of experience with a frail, or elderly population is required.

* Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate the ability to interact clearly and effectively with both internal and external customers.

* Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and criminal background check.

* Must be knowledgeable in how to use a Computer and Microsoft Office applications.

* Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with participants, co-workers, vendors, medical staff, and the public.

* Must be free of communicable diseases that can be readily transmitted in the workplace and have all immunizations up to date before providing direct care. TB test is required within first 7 days of employment. Hep B and Influenza (during flu season) vaccinations are offered but not required.

* Operates in full compliance with all applicable federal, state and local fire, health, safety, sanitation, Emergency procedures and other Standards prescribed in law or regulations.

* Skilled in identifying and recommending problem resolution.

* Ability to read, write and speak English.

* Capable of and experienced in assisting individuals with special mobility needs.

* Knowledge of principals, practices, standards and techniques of position.

* Knowledge of how to operate medical equipment (wheelchair, walkers).

* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

* Brings issues and process improvement ideas to the attention of the Scheduling Manager.

* Adheres to Company Dress Code Policy.

* Demonstrates appropriate level of time management in support of co-workers and the entire team.

DEPARTMENTAL (JOB SPECIFIC TASKS):

* Must maintain calm and professional demeanor at all times.

* Must remain patient and maintain good customer service when working with participants and internal or external staff

* Escorts participants to all outside appointments that have been arranged by the scheduling department.

* Assists with the needs of the participant during any outside appointment (i.e. participant paperwork, toileting, mobility and possible transfers).

* Documents services provided during the escorted appointment consistently and accurately via Electronic Health Records (EHR). Follows and fills out escort forms completely and neatly. Documentation is completed in a timely manner.

* Communicates with PACE for outside appointments, as necessary, including ensuring that the participant is signed in/out of the center and appointment.

* Participates in Company required and assigned training programs and any required staff and training meetings.

* Responsible for checking Company email throughout the day to receive updated scheduling information.

* Responsible for checking in with the scheduling department when a participant cancels or no-shows an outside appointment to assist with department needs.

* Maintains proper boundaries when dealing with participants. Notifies manager of any possible ethical or boundary issues immediately upon discovery.

* Must be available to work various hours to include early morning and late evening appointments. Possible overtime.

* Other duties as requested/assigned.

The employee may be required to endure extremes in temperature and may work in hazardous environments where personal protective equipment is required. Requires the ability to lift/carry up to 150 pounds using appropriate body mechanics.

* Visual, Hearing and Communication Requirements - Requires corrected vision and hearing to within normal range, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to communicate effectively in verbal and written form with all levels of personnel within and outside of the organization.

* Pressure Factor - Requires working under stressful conditions. Moderate pressure to meet scheduled and recurring deadlines.

* Environmental Conditions Working conditions may be noisy with fluctuating indoor temperatures. Must have the ability to work under moderate pressure in order to meet scheduled appointments or deadlines while dealing with frail, disabled and/or confused participants/clients. Subject to individuals who may have the potential for physical or verbal aggression. May be exposed to a risk of bodily injury through contact with moving instrumentation, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, bodily fluids, communicable diseases and other conditions common in a clinic environment. Subject to unpleasant odors.
