Maintenance Technician I

In this position, you will perform a variety of clean-up, maintenance, and repair duties in support of Code Enforcement's Quality of Life Team.

Essential Job Functions - the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform

* Remove and properly dispose of litter, debris, rubbish, overgrown vegetation, graffiti, unpermitted signs, and other blighting influences from areas throughout the City, including vacant lots, creek beds and banks, and other areas accessible only by walking

* Mow yards, pick up trash, and clean-up vacated homeless encampments

* Secure vacant structures using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment/supplies

* Gather and enter evidence and data using a digital camera, computer, and software

* Use various power and non-power tools (e.g., rakes, shovels, pitchforks, weed trimmers, mowers, and sandblasters)

* Ensure compliance with City standards and specifications

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:

Knowledge of:

* Modern office procedures and technology

* Digital cameras

* Safe operation of power and hand tools

Ability to:

* Safely operate assigned vehicles and equipment

* Read maps and receipts; understand work orders

* Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing

* Establish and maintain effective working relationships

Successful candidate will have:

* Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

* Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges

Ideal candidates will also have:

Two years of recent building and grounds maintenance experience. Additional Information

Environmental Conditions

Primary Work Environment - Office/field environment with travel from site to site

Extreme Temperature - Seasonally

Wetness and Humidity - Several times per week

Respiratory Hazards - Daily (dust, grease, smoke, fumes, and gases)

Noise and Vibrations - Daily

Physical Hazards - Daily (emergency site work in a fire-weakened [unstable] structure)

Mechanical and/or Electrical Hazards - Continuously

Exposure to Communicable Diseases - Rarely
